### Online Seminar: Strong tunable coupling between two distant superconducting spin qubits

Coupling spin qubits over long distances remains challenging due to their localized nature. This seminar presents recent research from **Prof. Leo P. Kouwenhoven & Christian Kraglund Andersen labs at TU Deft**, demonstrating strong supercurrent-mediated longitudinal coupling between two distant superconducting spin qubits. This coupling, which is gate- and flux-tunable and switchable in situ, highlights the potential of integrating microscopic spin states into superconducting qubit architectures, paving the way for fast two-qubit gates between distant spins. The findings combine the strengths of semiconductors and superconducting circuits.

Nat. Phys. 20, 1158–1163 (2024)

The seminar is presented by Dr. J**aap Joachim Wesdorp**, with Dr. T**om Dvir** co-hosting the event.

Our speakers -

- **Dr. Jaap Joachim Wesdorp**

  **Quantum Engineer, IQM**
Jaap did his PhD in the Kouwenhoven and Andersen lab in Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, focusing on studying the physics of superconductor-semiconductor nanowire Josephson junctions with superconducting circuits. Specifically, the work focused on the spin properties of Andreev bound states, which have recently emerged as a platform for a new type of qubit, so called superconducting spin qubits. Currently, Jaap works as a quantum engineer at IQM quantum computers.

- **Dr. Tom Dvir**

  **Product Research Physicist, Quantum Machines**
Tom is a product research physicist at Quantum Machines. He graduated in 2020 from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, where he researched the superconductivity of two-dimensional materials. He later conducted his post-doctoral research at the lab of Prof. Kouwenhoven in TU Delft, looking into Majorana-bound states in quantum-dot chains. Since joining Quantum Machines, Tom's focuses on product-specific research and creating calibration graphs for superconducting qubits using Quantum Machines' advanced controller.
